Items, categories and units
Item codes, categories and units of measure, from each and pair to box, litre and kilogram.
Inventory
Caskets, urns, embalming chemicals, body bags and PPE, tracked from the supplier's delivery to the family's invoice. See what's on the shelf, what's already set aside for a case, and what needs reordering before you run short.
Counted the way you buy it
How stock moves
Stock only changes when something real happens: a delivery, a case, an adjustment. Follow one mahogany casket around the loop.
Raise a purchase order to your supplier. It moves from draft to sent, and any item's page can start one for you.
Record the delivery when it arrives, in full or as partial receipts. Quantity goes up and the average cost updates.
Add the casket to a case and it's reserved for that family. The invoice line warns you before you promise stock you don't have.
Set a reorder level per item. When stock falls to it, the item is flagged low stock, and the next purchase order is one click away.
What's inside
Built around how a funeral home actually uses stock: a few costly items that must never be double-promised, and a steady flow of supplies that must never run out.
One list for everything on your shelves, with the numbers that matter.
Item codes, categories and units of measure, from each and pair to box, litre and kilogram.
Keep a running count of caskets and urns. Leave services and small consumables untracked; they still go on invoices.
Set a level per item. Anything at or below it is flagged low stock and counted on your inventory overview.
On hand, reserved and available side by side, so two arrangers never promise the same casket.
Stock connects to the rest of MortemCare instead of living in a spreadsheet.
A preferred supplier per item, purchase orders from draft to sent, and deliveries received in full or in parts.
Sellable items appear in the case service picker with their price and tax setting, and invoices warn when stock is short.
Damaged, expired, donated or a stock count correction. See the effect on quantity and value before you save.
Item summary, item list as at any date, and item-by-item detail, exported to Excel or PDF.
Valuation & audit trail
Quantities never change quietly. Each receipt, case, write-off and correction is a stock movement with a date, a reference and the person who recorded it, so the number on screen always has a history behind it.
Questions

Track anything you count and value: caskets, urns, embalming chemicals, body bags and PPE. Services and small consumables you don't count can stay untracked. They can still be sold on quotes and invoices, they just don't carry a stock level.
Adding a tracked item to a case reserves it for that case, so your team sees what is actually available rather than just what is on the shelf. When the invoice quantity is more than you have available, MortemCare warns you before you save.
No. Tracked stock can't go below zero. If a delivery hasn't been recorded yet, receive it against its purchase order or make a stock adjustment first, so the count always reflects what is really there.
At average cost. Each receipt updates the item's average cost, and stock value is the quantity on hand times that average. If a supplier changes their price, a revaluation adjustment updates the value without touching the quantity.
Yes. Each item and category can point to sales, purchase, inventory asset and cost of goods sold accounts. With MortemCare Accounting switched on, stock movements post journal entries to those accounts. Without it, inventory still keeps full counts, values and movement history.
When you create an item, enter its opening quantity, unit cost and date. That becomes the item's first movement. If the date is on or before your accounting conversion date, it counts as part of your opening balances and isn't posted twice.
